Where we are going
We land in Marrakesh but we do not sleep there; we drive straight to the ocean, because we want to begin with the sea, not with the busiest city in the country. Marrakesh waits for the end, when you know what to shop for and the morning airport is close. We fly direct from Prague.
DAYS 1–4 · ANZA AND AGADIR
We start at the ocean
Straight from the airport to the Atlantic: four nights in one house by the ocean. Three days of surf lessons with an instructor, dinosaur footprints within walking distance of the house, and the Agadir markets, where local women press argan oil.
DAY 5 · ESSAOUIRA
Harbour, ramparts, snails
A blue-and-white port town. You pick your fish straight from a crate at the market, plus babbouche, snail soup from a street stall. Most people do not dare; most of those who do order a second one. We sleep in a riad inside the ramparts.
DAY 6 · CASABLANCA
A day about Islam
The Hassan II Mosque, its minaret rising 210 metres above the Atlantic, one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims; our tour is booked. Then an hour of context: the five pillars and why the call to prayer sounds. In the evening, a tented camp by the Merja Zerga lagoon.
DAYS 7–8 · CHEFCHAOUEN
The blue city without the crowds
From the lagoon up a winding road into the Rif mountains. We arrive for sunset, and in the morning the blue alleys are ours alone, before the buses come.
DAYS 8–9 · VOLUBILIS AND FEZ
We sleep inside the medina
On the way, the holy town of Moulay Idriss and the Roman mosaics of Volubilis in the afternoon light. Then two nights in a riad right in the Fez medina: nine thousand alleys, a full day with a local guide, the Chouara tanneries and a hammam in the evening.
DAY 10 · MIDDLE ATLAS
Cedars, monkeys and a night in the mountains
A cedar forest with wild Barbary macaques, mint tea in the mountain town of Ifrane and a night in Midelt at 1,500 metres. The easiest day of the second half; tonight is when the warm layer comes out.
DAY 11 · ZIZ GORGE AND ERG CHEBBI
By evening we enter the desert
The Ziz gorge and mud-brick ksars on the way south. We set out for the camp in the dunes before sunset: by camel or by quad bike with an instructor, your choice, same price. Dinner by the fire and a night under the stars.
DAY 12 · RISSANI AND ALNIF
Sunrise, a nomad market and a trilobite of your own
Sunrise over the dunes and camels back again. The Sunday market in Rissani, where the whole region comes to trade, and the fields near Alnif, where locals lend you a hammer: find a fossil 400 million years old and you take home something that money cannot buy. We sleep in a camp in the Draa valley.
DAYS 13–15 · DRAA · AIT BEN HADDOU · MARRAKESH
The grand finale
The Draa valley, the mud-brick Ait Ben Haddou known from Gladiator and the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Two days in Marrakesh: the medina with a local guide, the big shopping run and a hammam. Early on day fifteen, we fly home.
The skeleton of the itinerary is fixed: the places we sleep and the tickets we have paid for do not change. Inside each day there is room: when a conversation starts at the market, we are in no hurry.
Adventurers, not tourists
A tourist comes to tick off a list and leaves with photos of places they never really visited. We come to live the country, even at the cost of a little comfort.

Where we sleep and what we eat
Wherever we can, we rent a whole riad or a small hotel just for our group: no strangers, and in the evening the courtyard is ours. Rooms are shared, for two to four people; if you travel alone, you room with someone of the same sex at no extra charge. Three nights are under canvas: one by a lagoon on the coast, one in the Erg Chebbi dunes and one in the Draa valley. It is not a European hotel standard. It is better: it is the real Morocco.
Food is included the whole time: breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We eat where the locals eat: tagine, couscous, harira, fish straight from the market. Vegetarian and other diets are no problem when we know in advance. You only pay for your own alcohol.
TWO GUIDES FOR A SMALL GROUP
Who goes with you
Cesta dobrodruha began with a journey where we crossed Morocco on our own, with no travel agency and no catalogue itinerary. It was one of the strongest journeys we have ever made. And we realised that most people who would love this will never set out alone. So we take them.
There are two of us on purpose: one runs the programme, the other looks after the people. If someone falls ill, one goes with them to the doctor and the other carries on with the group. You are never without help.

DRIVER AND GROUP CARETravels with us as driver and second guide. He travels full time and has visited more than 70 countries; Sri Lanka stole his heart.

Spring after the winter rains: green country, 23–25 °C in Marrakech and waves still running on the Atlantic. We deliberately set it after Ramadan so the medinas and restaurants are open. Deposit refunded in full until 1 Feb 2027, balance due 11 Feb 2027.
The October departure is full. March is the only date still open.

We do not write this to sound tough. Fifteen days in one minibus is a long time, which is why we get to know everyone personally before the trip. You will not travel with random people; you will travel with people who chose this journey for the same reason you did.
What people ask most often
Quite the opposite, this trip is made for you. Most of the group comes alone. We room you with someone of the same sex in the same situation, and there is no surcharge for your own bed. Fifteen days in one minibus does its work; most groups end as friends.
Yes. The expedition runs mainly in Czech, but the lead guide speaks English at C2 level and will translate whatever you need, from the briefing to haggling at the market. Call us before you book and we will be honest about whether it will work for you.
It is not a sporting event. We walk on uneven paving and sand, and daytime temperatures are around 25 °C. The hardest day is day six: the drive via Casablanca to the lagoon camp takes about seven hours. We say it up front; the landscape on the way is worth it.
Morocco is the most stable destination in North Africa. We travel in our own minibus with a driver we know, prices agreed in advance, and in the medinas we walk with licensed guides. There are two of us, so the group is never without an escort, and we are on the phone 24 hours a day.
The riads are clean and well kept, but do not expect a chain hotel: bathrooms are often shared per room and hot water can take a moment. Three nights are in tents with sleeping bags. We drink bottled water only. It is part of the journey, not a flaw in it.
Medical travel insurance is included in the price. We carry a list of trusted doctors along the route and copies of all documents. If things get serious, one guide goes with you and the other stays with the group.
Pleasant by day, around 25 °C. In the desert and the mountains it drops below ten degrees at night; a warm layer is a compulsory item on the packing list you get from us.
The standard is a shared room at no surcharge. If you want to be alone, tell us and we will price the supplement based on the accommodation.
Until 1 February 2027 we refund the deposit in full, no reason needed. After that date the cancellation terms of the Terms and Conditions apply; we recommend cancellation insurance, which we can arrange for you.
Food and the itinerary are paid for. Budget for souvenirs and tips. Specific advice, including changing money, comes in the info pack three weeks before departure.
